AleoBFT
AleoBFT is Aleo's consensus protocol. It is a privacy-focused adaptation of Byzantine Fault Tolerant (BFT) consensus, drawing from frameworks initially conceptualized by Aptos and Sui.
AleoBFT coordinates validators to agree on the ordering of blocks while preserving the privacy guarantees that make Aleo distinctive. Validators participate by staking credits, and the protocol uses a committee rotation mechanism to distribute block production.
For developers, the consensus mechanism is mostly transparent - you interact with it through transaction finality times and fee economics rather than protocol-level details.
